Your skin may seem dry and dull from dead skin cells, but exfoliation can help eliminate them. Avoid overdoing it since it can damage the skin. Exfoliate once or twice every week, depending on your skin type.

Use Moisturiser:

Moisturise your skin to keep it hydrated and nourished. Use a moisturiser that is suitable for your skin type. After cleansing and exfoliating your skin, don’t forget to apply moisturiser.

Don’t forget your SPF:

Your skin can be damaged by the sun’s UV rays, resulting in wrinkles, premature ageing, and even skin cancer. So, don’t forget to use sun protection on your skin. Wear protective clothing, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day (between 10 am to 2 pm).

Consuming water regularly is essential for keeping skin healthy and moisturised. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day and try to stay away from sugary and caffeinated beverages.

So what’s Tanning?

Tanning is the process of increasing melanin (skin pigment) due to exposure to the sun. This is the body’s natural mechanism of protecting the skin from UV damage. When exposed to intense sunlight, your body produces excess melanin just below the skin’s outer layer. This aids in absorbing UV radiation. As a result, pigmentation increases with increased UV exposure, and tans become darker. The areas that are prone to Tan are:

  • Face
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Hands
  • Feet

Tan removal Treatments:

Sun exposure damages the immune system and speeds up the skin damage and ageing process. As a result, you must combat it with the proper tan removal methods. Tan removal treatments include Chemical Peeling, Laser treatments, and more. Let’s take a brief look at it.

Chemical Peeling:

This type of tan removal therapy is used to remove the superficial dead skin layers that have collected extra melanin. These are the acids that are used in chemical peels; glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol). Chemical peels are divided into three groups, Deep Peel, Medium Peel, and Superficial Peel.

Microdermabrasion:

Exfoliating the dead skin cells that carry extra stored melanin pigment using microdermabrasion, a method for removing tans. It induces faster regeneration of new cells than would otherwise be the case. The end effect is skin appears to be younger, and firmer, and toner appears younger, firmer, and more toned. There are different ways.

Crystal Microdermabrasion:

Using a wand, tiny particles are sprayed over your face.

Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion :

An applicator directly rubs against your skin to exfoliate it.

Home Remedies for Tan Removal:

The following home remedies for skin whitening have been practiced for centuries. But there’s no scientific backing for it.

Honey and Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice is known as an ancient and efficient way to get rid of tan. Lemon juice has a bleaching effect that helps in reducing skin tan. Honey keeps skin supple and smooth. Add some honey and one tablespoon of lemon juice to the mixture. Apply it to your skin, then let it on for 30 minutes. Clean it off.

Besan and Turmeric:

These are our Indian grandparents’ tips to remove tan from the face and skin. To make a thick paste, combine a tablespoon of besan with a teaspoon of turmeric, some lemon juice, and curd. Apply it to the face and neck, let it sit for 30 minutes, and then wash it off. All these are organic, tanning-removing ingredients.

Potato Juice:

Potato juice is an effective bleaching agent. Along with your dark circles, it can also lighten your suntan. Remove the potato skin and grind it in a blender. Apply it to tanned areas and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, rinse it off with cold water.

How to prevent Sun tanning?

  • Cover up fully before heading out every day.
  • Wear hats, sunglasses, scarves, etc.
  • Avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day (10 am to 2 pm)
  • Before stepping out, apply sunscreen; don’t forget to reapply it every two hours.
  • Hydrate yourself. To keep your skin from drying out during the summer, consume at least 15-20 glasses of water daily. Consume fibrous meals such as green fruits and vegetables.
  • Use sunscreen every 20 minutes if you often spend time outside in the sun or a swimming pool.
  • Use sun-safe cosmetics. Use a Moisturiser during the day. Use mineral-based makeup instead of cream-based makeup.
  • Ideally, you should wash your face twice every day.

The preventative methods listed above are not scientifically proven. Nonetheless, humans have always held a strong belief in them.
